- Speak to your doctor about preventative measures
- Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand gel
- Wash your hands before touching your eyes, nose or mouth
- Don’t share items like cigarettes, glasses or cups, lipstick or toys
- Keep at least one metre between you and anyone displaying flu-like symptoms such as coughing or sneezing
If you have the flu, you should…
- Stay home
- Cover your mouth with tissues when coughing or sneezing, disposing of them immediately
- Consult your doctor if you have a cough or high fever and follow his or her instructions, including taking medicine as prescribed
- Alert the receptionist of your symptoms if attending a medical practice or hospital so you can be seated away from others and possibly be given a surgical mask.
